The major redvelopment of Barefield National School will be offically opened by the Junior Education Minister today.
The school which has 375 pupils on the roll books is also celebrating 115 years of education in the parish which has seen huge changes since the completion of the bypass as part of the Ennis to Gort motorway.
It now boast 16 large classrooms fully equiped with the latest educational tools along with 6 resource teaching rooms as well as state of the art special needs facilities.
This afternoon’s events get underway at 2 o’clock include exhibitions and talks on the changing face of education at Barefield over the past centuary.
Principal John Burns who’s family have close ties to the school says it has gone from strenght to strenght in the community over the years
