Batten Down the Hatches

Met Éireann says there is cause for concern in coastal areas as Clare prepares to battle storm force winds. 

Three separate weather warnings are now in place a snow – ice warning is in place through tonight and it is likely that there will be heavy rainfall also.

Clare County Council says the worst effects of this are likely to be felt along the coastline, and they urging people not to venture out or to drive on exposed roads while these conditions prevail.

Gusts of up to 130 Km per hour have been forecast. 

Meanwhile Gardaí are warning of slippery driving conditions on the M18 between the Barefield and Crusheen exits. 

Conditions have deteriorated on the stretch following hail and sleet showers this afternoon,  a three car collision occurred in the area earlier today.
