Better Education Needed For Woman’s Cancers

A Clare Oncology Nurse who lost her sister to cancer insists that people in this country need to be better educated on women’s cancers.

It’s comes as World Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Day aims to raise awareness and highlight the risk factors, symptoms, early detection and prevention of the main types of gynaecological cancers that impact women.

Over 1,400 gynaecological cancers are diagnosed in Ireland annually, representing over 12% of female cancers.

Anne Murphy, is an Ovarian Cancer Survivor, who also lost her sister to Ovarian Cancer nine years ago, feels many signs of cancer are passed as “woman’s issues”.
