The journey time from Clare to Dublin is set to be cut when the Birdhill to Nenagh section of the M7 motorway finally opens today a year behind schedule.
The 425 million euro route had been due for completion in June of last year, but this was not possible after a portion of the road at the Annaholty Bog sank
It has had to be re-reinforced at an extra cost to the developer of up to three million euro.

Locals have warned that the road will encounter difficulties once more, but the NRA says it has passed relevant tests.
Transport Minister Noel Dempsey is confident that it will be able to handle expected traffic levels
