The dark comedy Birdman has received Hollywood's highest recognition – the Academy Award for best picture.
It won four Oscars including Best Director.

British star Eddie Redmayne won best actor with his portrayal of physicist Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything while Julianne Moore was named Best Actress.
There was no luck for the Irish nominees.
