Bishop Willie Walsh to ordain Clare man to the Diaconate

 A 27 year old O’Brien bridge native who’s studying for the priesthood enters one of his final stages next week.

The Bishop of Killaloe Dr Willie Walsh will ordain Gerard Jones to the office of a deacon in Rome next Monday whereby he will be able to preside over some of the sacramental ceremonies such as baptism and marriage.

The 27 year old, who is currently completing his Theology studies in Italy, will also be able to assist the ministry of the Catholic Church in whatever duties he is given by The Bishop.

During his formation Ger has had pastoral placements Ennis and Birr in Offaly and is one of 4 students from the Killaloe Diocese preparing for the  priesthood.
