Gardai are investigating the discovery of a body in Corofin.
The body of a woman was found in a campervan at a local campsite in the North Clare village this afternoon.
Gardai and the fire service remain at the scene of the local campsite in Corofin where the woman's body was disovered in a campervan and a smell of gas has been detected in the area.
They're currently trying to establish whether a gas leak caused the woman's death, but Gardai say they're keeping an open mind for now.
It's understood the deceased woman is in her sixties and is believed to have traveled from England to the campsite in Corofin on Saturday.
Her body will be removed to Limerick University hospital for a post mortem later.
No one else was in the campervan but the woman's dog was found to be unwell and has been brought to a local vet.
