Michael D Higgins would have "broad support" if he wants a second term as President.
That's according to the social protection minister Leo Varadkar, who thinks he will have cross-party support if he decides to run again.

The President's term is due to expire in 2018, and Mr Higgins has yet to indicate whether he will seek to run again.
Leo Varadkar meanwhile says he's not interested in speculation linking him with the Fine Gael leadership – for now.
