Aer Lingus’ decision to use Shannon pre-clearance facilities is being described as a welcome change of attitude towards the County Clare airport.
Following numerous controversies for the former state airline at Shannon, and it’s apparent disregard for the unique US Customs facilities on offer, Aer Lingus has now applied to use the US Homeland Security services at Shannon from May.
It’s seen as a turn around, given claims of a bias against Shannon in the past, and with over 100 cabin crew job losses now looming, Shannon Councillor Patricia McCarthy hopes it’s a positive sign for the future
