Denis Brosnan is to remain on as the chairman of the Mid-west taskforce.
The businessman had threatened to withdraw from his role with the taskforce following the publication of their recent report in which he slammed the government’s progress on addressing issues with the local economy.
However, he has now rescinded on that threat, saying he has received assurances that the area is to be regarded as a priority by bodies such as the IDA and Enterprise Ireland.
Meanwhile Mr. Brosnan has again expressed his fears about the downturn in passenger numbers at Shannon Airport.
Figures for last year show a 12% drop in traffic in the MidWest airport, and Mr Brosnan says he fears a further 15% fall this year.
