Extremely icy road conditions across Clare this morning are wreaking havoc for motorists and commuters alike, with a number of minor collisions and extensive cancellations to bus services.
Many morning Bus Eireann services particularly in North and West Clare are not operating now including Doolin to Galway, Doolin to Limerick, Doonbeg to Ennis, Kilkee -Ennis- Limerick and the returning service Ennis- Kilkee along with Ennis to Doolin.
The 12.00 Kilkee to Ennis service and 12.30 Doolin -Ennis- Limerick will be reviewed later.
Gardai say no area has escaped the treacherous conditions after overnight rain subsequently froze over leading to treacherous driving conditions,
In particular motorists are being urged to proceed with caution on sections of the Ennis to Kilrush Road, from Kilmihil to Cree (particularly at Knockalough Hill)
The Ennis to Ennistymon Road is also extremely dangerous in parts, the Tulla road and many stretches in and around Ennis.
The motorway also hasn’t escaped the icy with several reported accidents this morning due to extensive black ice.
