Bus service delays due to ongoing freezing conditions

Commuters across County Clare face delays on the roads this morning due to another night of freezing temperatures.

Motorists are being warned to leave extra time for their journeys due to further treacherous conditions while Bus Eireann services have also been affected.

The 8.40 Doolin to Galway has been cancelled and the service will now depart Ballyvaughan at 9.25 but this will be subject to delays due to road conditions.

Ennis to Shannon services and Route 51 which stops at Shannon Airport are running today but also subject to delays.

Elsewhere and

Local authorities will take delivery of extra grit today after they used a third of an entire seasons supply over Christmas.

It comes as Clare County Council has come in for criticism for the gritting of roads across the county.

The local authority’s trucks have been out salting routes before Christmas but the focus has been on the main and not the minor stretches which has lead to severe criticism from some public representatives.

However the Mayor of Clare Tony Mulcahy has praised the work of the council in recent weeks
