Calls for Clare to be granted millions of euro in funding to help fund required works in the aftermath of Storm Christine will be heard in Dublin and in Strasbourg today.
Cabinet meets this afternoon, where the issue of flooding will be discussed. Ministers will be briefed on calls for funding from Clare and elsewhere, and it’s understood they may sign-off on an initial funding package.
Meanwhile, EU Regional Policy Commissioner Johannes Hahn will be presented with Clare County Council’s report which estimates the damage caused here to be worth nearly 24 million euro.
Commissioner Hahn is meeting with a number of politicians, including Clare TD Timmy Dooley, who wants the EU to release much needed monies to the county.
