The problem of illegal traveller encampments along the roads in Clare has prompted calls for greater action by Clare County Council.
The issue was raised in light of illegal overnight parking in many areas of the county including Tulla and Kilkee, and while councillors says they don’t want to see boulders blocking every roadside, they do want to see tighter controls enforced.
Normal proecedure involves notification of the Gardai by Clare County Council to commence enforcement action against illegal encampments, but East Clare Councillor Joe Cooney says greater preventative action could be taken
