There are calls for the power station in Ardnacrusha to be turned into a tourist attraction.
The suggestion has come from Sixmilebridge Councillor PJ Ryan who wants the local authority to work with Clare Tourism and the ESB, claiming there is an opportunity to turn it into a landmark for visitors, similar to the the Hoover Dam in the US.

The Hydro-electric station was open to the public until the 1970 before it was closed for security reasons.
