Local representatives in West Clare have called for the government to prioritise the area for invesment in broadband, to avoid missing out on business opportunities.
Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte on Friday unveiled a National Broadband Plan, promising high speed access throughout the country by 2015, on the same day that Kilrush was shown to have the second lowest level of internet connectivity of any town in Ireland.

Census results show 45% of Kilrush homes are not online, but local Councillors say this would change if the town received a share of the promised 350 million euro upgrade fund.
