Calls for Immediate Intervention on A&E Overcrowding Crisis

Clare's Fianna Fáil TD has accused the HSE of deliberately delaying approval for Nursing Home Care for patients in a bid to save money.

Timmy Dooley is calling for the Minister for Health and the HSE to treat the current overcrowding crisis at University Hospital Limerick and across the country as a national emergency.

The midwest's main hospital has been one of the busiest in Ireland in this week of unprecedented trolley waiting lists, and the UL Hospitals Group says one of the key factors has been "the older age profile of patients" and "delays in discharging" them to "home or other appropriate settings".

Deputy Dooley says that issue could be solved quickly, if the paywork and funding was cleared and approved faster.
