Clare Councillors are asking the Health Minister to review the addition of fluoride to public water supplies, based on calls leads by the County Mayor.
Councillor Pat Hayes says he’s been lobbied by people throughout the county over new concerns that flourination could have hidden dangers for human health, though the practice is in place in Ireland to promote healthy teeth.

His calls to end the practice were disagreed with, however, by a number of colleagues including Clarecastle Councillor Paul Murphy, who feels such fears have no medical foundation, and that dental hygiene could suffer without the use of Fluoride.
