Calls for life saving stroke treatment to be considered at Ennis General

Clare Councillors are calling for investment in life-saving stroke treatments which could be rolled out at Ennis General.

Members of the Regional Health Forum have been told that up to 150 lives could be saved each year in the West of Ireland, if ‘adequate’ treatments were available.

Dr. Tom Walsh, Chair of the West of Ireland Regional Stroke Forum, has also told local representatives that the life threatening attacks cost the state one billion euro annually, and that incidences of strokes could increase by half within eight years.

Kilmaley Fianna Fail Councillor, and member of the Regional Health Forum, Tom McNamara is calling for an investment to allow Clare residents be treated at Ennis General.
