Clare County Council is being urged to provide essential services on a more localised level to deal with issues like the ongoing freezing conditions or the recent floods.
Minor roads, estates and pavements have for the most part remained ungritted over the past three weeks with the focus on clearing the main routes throughout Clare.
This has lead to any angry backlash from residents in towns and villages across the county with some householders confined to their homes due to the treacherous conditions.
The issue was raised at yesterday’s meeting of Ennis Town Council and Councillor Johnny Flynn says a cut in government funding coupled with the recruitment freeze is also taking its toll
