There are calls for the 3 and a half thousand people living here in long-term Direct Provision, to be granted asylum this year as a gesture of solidarity to the 1916 leaders on the centenary of the Easter Rising.
The Chairperson of a working group tasked with examining Direct Provision, says those who have been in the system for more than 5 years should be granted asylum as soon as possible.

The group says it costs 11 thousand euro a year to accommodate a person in Direct Provision.
