The Transport Minister is being told its essential Shannon Airport’s developed into a hub for transatlantic flights, given the impending introduction of pre-clearance facilities.
The Mayor of Shannon made the call after British Airways announced it was availing of the custom and immigration services from September when it operates flights from London to JFK.
It’s hoped the inclusion of the high profile carrier will attract others to avail of the facilities at the Mid West Airport which should be up and running next month.
Shannon Mayor and Fine Gael Councillor Sean McLoughlin believes it will go a long way in helping the region out of the current economic slump
