Calls for an evaluation of Ennis’ water treatment plant have been made to establish if the plant is offering value for money.
The new 9 million euro Drumcliffe treatment facility, in operation since late 2009, has already had a shaky start.

A recent mechanical fault in the filtration system at the plant led to thousands of litres of water being tankered in from other reservoirs in Clare and Limerick and to service the county town and its environs.
Ennis councillor Johnny Flynn says an independent evaluation is needed to determine if the plant is fit for purpose and offering value for money to rate payers and domestic users down the line.
