While Enda Kenny set Dublin up for a clash with the EU by virtue of his comments in the Dáil this afternoon, there had already been signs this morning of how the Irish government would approach talks on a Brexit.

Enda Kenny told TDs that he wants Britain to remain close to the EU, even when outside of the Union, though some EU members may seek punitve terms for London.

However, Clare's Junior Minister says it's vital that Ireland's close relationship with its largest trading partner remains to the forefront during these talks.

Minister of State for Employment and Business Pat Breen was speaking on Clare FM's Morning Focus.

The economic uncertainty following on from Thursday's referendum continues, with the sterling weakening further today.

That's bad news for our agri exports, and also for tourism providers who could see the number of British visitors fall as a result.

However, Lahinch hotellier and past President of the Irish Hotels Federation michael Vaughan has stressed that these numbers have fallen somewhat already.
