Calls are being made to reduce fees at recycling centres around Clare.
It comes as concerns were raised at this week’s monthly Council meeting that the the rise of the illegal dumping of mattresses and furnature on road sides is a major issue across the county.
It currently costs 50 euro to recycle a suite of furniture and 20 euro for a double mattress at local authority facilities here.

Sixmilebridge-based Councillor PJ Ryan says a reduction in disposal costs would attract people to throw away old items in an appropriate manner.
