Calls On Government To Help Small Firms

The Government’s being urged to set up a specific department to provide key support to small companies as another long standing firm in Clare’s County Town is forced to shut its doors.

After 21 years in operation Tonies Fashons in Lower Market Street, Ennis will wind down its business this weekend due to the ongoing econmic downturn.

It marks the end of an era as the clothing store has been a well known fixture in Ennis for over two decades but its propietor Tony Molloy  says he’s cutting his loses and getting out while he can.

His circumstances were raised during a private members motion by Fine Gael in the Dail last night, and in light of the situation the town’s Chamber of Commerce has warned the government to take urgent action to help the 800 thousand people employed in small businesses
