Calls are being made for more supports to be made available for local and independent radio stations.
Commercial radio stations are calling for the taxes on them to be dropped – as the government promised three years ago.
There’s also calls for more of the TV licence fee to be used to fund local and regional radio, and for journalism in order to halt the spread of fake news.

The government has committed to not opposing a Fianna Fáil motion to protect the journalism output of local radio stations – Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey thinks that’s appropriate.
