A Clare government TD is calling on the Minister for Finance to pass on better than expected tax returns to the public.
Tax revenues are running nearly a billion euro ahead of target so far this year, and Michael Noonan's already indicated the plan to reduce the deficit to below 3% is still on course.

However Fine Gael TD Joe Carey says hard-pressed tax payers deserve a break.
Meanwhile, the economy will be on the agenda as the Cabinet meets for the first time since the summer break this afternoon
The deployment of Irish troops in the Golan Heights, abortion and the broken-down government jet will also be discussed by Ministers.
