Caution Advised Ahead Of Storm Gertrude

Clare County Council is urging people to exercise extreme caution ahead of Storm Gertrude, which is expected to make landfall around midnight tonight.

Met Éireann has issued an orange weather alert for Clare with expected winds of up to 80 kilometres per hour and gusts of up to 130 kilometres per hour forecast from midnight tonight.

Road users are being advised to take particular care, with special warnings for drivers of high-sided vehicles and motorcyclists.

Coastal areas will be the worst affected but Senior Engineer Paul Moroney is hopeful that the storm won't cause any major damage.
