Caution Urged As Clare Road Temperatures Drop Below Freezing

Drivers across Clare are being warned to be cautious this morning as road temperatures dropped to below freezing in the county overnight.

A status yellow low temperature warning remains in place for Clare, as well as all of Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal and Longford until 10 o’clock this morning.

All national roads, most of the regional roads and some of the local roads in the county were salted last evening, though some roads remain untreated and extra care is being advised.

The local authority says it has almost 2000 tonnes of salt to disperse throughout Clare if needed, with further cold weather anticipated over the coming days.

Senior Engineer with Clare County Council, John Leahy, is urging those out on the roads this morning to be mindful of the conditions.

Information on salting routes can be found here.
