'The time for talking shops is over'.

So says the head of the AGSI, who's warning there could be no way around Garda strikes unless pay restoration is put on the table.

The AGSI is considering its own campaign of industrial action, after their colleagues in the GRA voted in favour of withdrawing service on 4 days next month.

The group is due to sit down today with Minister Frances Fitzgerald, in a meeting that was planned before recent developments.

AGSI Group President Antoinette Cunninham says her members aren't looking for more talks.

The chair of Clare's Joint Policing Committee has expressed deep disappoints over the latest developments, saying any industrial action by Gardaí could have serious consequences for local communities.

Sixmilebridge Councillor PJ Ryan is calling on the Tánaiste to ensure that considerable efforts are made to avert a strike.
