Christmas officially comes to Clare this evening, with the festive lights to be switched on at 5.

The Mayor of Ennis Frankie Neylon will perform the honours at the Christmas tree in the market, with entertainment to be provided by local school children.
Ennis Town Council and local traders are hoping the lights will add to the festive atmosphere in the town, and boost local trade.
They’re also planning to keep Abbey Street, O’Connell Street and O’Connell Square free from cars over the next three Saturdays as well as Sunday, December 20th and Christmas Eve.
