An Ennis man who is alleged to have threatened to shoot Clare’s Dog Warden in the leg now faces up to seven years in jail if convicted of the offence.
It's after Judge Patrick Durcan yesterday declined jurisdiction in the case of Eoin Hannan of Kilrush Rd, Ennis.
Giving evidence in the case yesterday at Ennis District Court, Inspector Tom Kennedy said that at 9.30am on September 21st 2012 Dog Warden FrankieCoote began receiving calls on his mobile that were threatening and abusive from the outset from Mr Hannan.
Insp Kennedy said that the calls related to Mr Hannan querying legislation that allowed Mr Coote take a dog from him.
Mr Coote is alleged to have received 100 calls on the day in question and additional calls in the days that followed.
During one of these Mr Hannan is accused of threatening to blind the ISPCA Inspector and to shoot him in the leg and leave him with a limp.
Mr Hannan is charged with harassing Mr Coote on dates between September 21st and September 26th 2012 – he's been remanded in custody to re-appear before Ennis District Court on July 16th next.
His solicitor has informed the court he'll be pleading guilty to the offence.
The case will now be heard in the Circuit Court after the preparation of a Book of Evidence.
