Claims Dealing With Revenue Has Left Some Clare People Suicidal

It's been claimed that the stress of dealing with public bodies such as the Revenue Commissioners has left some people in Clare suicidal.

It comes as Councillors express dissatisfaction with the standard of service to the public.

Sixmilebridge Councillor PJ Ryan says some people have been pushed to the brink following their dealins with the Revenue Commissioners.

He's joined with his Council colleagues in passing motions which will see Revenue and the Department of Finance urged to address public concerns.

Shannon Councillor Gerry Flynn agrees that the service offered is not up to scratch.

Councillors say they've been contacted by people, who are fed up with long phone waiting times and other difficulties.

A number of Clare listeners have also told stories today of how they're frustrated due to this issue.

East Clare's Pat Hayes says it isn't confined to just the Revenue Commissioners, or even just the public sector.

Clare FM News has contacted The Office of the Revenue Commissioners for comment, but has yet to receive a response.
