New research out today claims that the victims of domestic violence are being ignored in the housing crisis.
Lobby group SAFE Ireland claims more than 4-thousand women and children living in refuges aren't recognised as homeless.
Technically this group are seen as 'out of a home' rather than having no home.
Government figures at the end of February show that 912 families, including over 18-hundred children, were in emergency accommodation – however that number doesn't factor in the majority of those in refuges.
SAFE Ireland's interviews with 40 women show that two-thirds of them had experienced physical abuse on a weekly basis.
While half had reported a serious threat to their lives.
A greater frequency and severity than previously reported.
