Questions have been raised at an apparent imbalance in funding for Respite services between the MidWest and East of the country.
It comes as the Brothers of Charity facility in Bawnmore is set to re-open this week following an extended closure due to funding issues.
According to MidWest TD Jan O’Sullivan, providers of respite services in the East, the Daughters of Charity have received additional top up grants to maintain their services.
However families from across Clare and Limerick, whose family members attend the centre in Bawnmore, will be expected to fundraise over 100 thousand euro per year to maintain the service.
Deputy O’Sullivan feels it’s unfair for families from Clare and Limerick
