Claims that Ennis air quality hasn’t improved since smokey fuel ban

It’s claimed legislation to improve air quality in Ennis, by banning smoky coal, isn’t working.

Members of Ennis Town Council have been told that many households are still burning cheap bituminous coal, despite the ban, as some dealers are bringing the now illegal product into the town for sale.

Ennis Coal-man and Town Councillor Frankie Neylon says dodgy dealers are threatening the livelihoods of those who are selling only smokeless products in the area, and the law will need to ban the burning of bituminous products if it’s to work.
