It's claimed littering in parts of Clare has the potential to impact the county's tourist trade.
Councillor PJ Ryan has proposed at this month's Shannon Municipal District Meeting that a Environmental Officer by appointed in the area, citing delays in removing rubbish dumped in fields and by roadsides.

Clare County Council says the hiring of additional staff is not possible due a recruitment embargo currently in place.
