A Clare actress is joining the cast of a major BBC and HBO series.
Ennis woman and Peaky Blinders actress Simone Kirby will star in the second season of His Dark Materials.
The drama, made by Bad Wolf, will be based on ‘The Subtle Knife’, which is the second book in Philip Pullman’s acclaimed trilogy of novels about the adventures of Lyra Belacqua.

Kirby will play Dr Mary Malone, a scientist who becomes a major character in third book ‘The Amber Spyglass’.
