World renowned novelist and Clare native Edna O’Brien will be honoured for her works with a lifetime achievement award tonight.
The 78 year old who hails from Tuamgraney has penned numbers books, short stories and plays is best known for "The Country Girls" trilogy which deals with women’s disenchantment in the repressed Ireland of the 50’s.

The books were banned but went on to become best sellers.
Tonight Ms O’Brien will be presented with the Bob Hughes Award at the Mansion House in Dublin tonight
