Clare County Council says its fully stocked with grit supplies as freezing temperatures grip the county this weekend.
Overnight temperatures will plummet to minus five over the coming days with snow and ice forecast in some parts of the country and a severe ground frost nationwide.
The RSA is warning all road users to exercise extreme care and is urging drivers to watch out for black ice, use dipped headlights and leave plenty of space to brake.
