The Minister for Justice is being asked to put laws in place to tackle abuse of the elderly.
A Clare based Campaign Group, Support Link, is calling for new mesures to protect people in nursing homes and state run institutions.

The organisation have launched a specific Elder Abuse & Vulnerable Adult Protection Act and say it could be added to regulations already in place.
The group is formed by a number of Clare residents who have campaigned on the issue of elder abuse previously through personal or professional experience.
