Clare Carers want rethink on special needs cuts

Clare Carers are calling for a rethink on the government’s decision to review the allowances received by parents of special needs children.

Parents Protested outside the Dáil this week over the loss of the 309 euro per month payment to some children following reviews by the Department of Social Protection,  and the Ennis based Caring for Carers Group says they’re aware of many local families whose payments were stopped.

Development Officer Susan Hogan says the situation is particularly difficult for parents awaiting a diagnosis for neurological and developmental disorders in their children
