Clare Charity Warns Of Bogus Collections

A West Clare based charity has issued a warning to the public about bogus door-to-door collections.

It follows the theft of a bucket containing around 500 euro from The William Winder Rainbow Foundation during a recent fundraising event in Lahinch.

Mark and Caroline Winder set up the charity four years ago after their son William passed away, through suicide, at the age of 15.

There are now 19 councillors working with the service, which is the only one of its kind in the county, and almost 6,000 hours of counselling has been carried out free of charge.

Mark Winder fears that those responsible for the theft will use the bucket to con people into giving them more money and he remains disgusted by their actions
