Clare County council says it will not be commenting on claims a Kilkee couple face medical tests as a result of the illegal dumping of materials containing asbestos.
The authority launched an investigation and clean up earlier this following the discovery of nine sites in the county where substances were dumped.
Clare County Council has commissioned an external independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the depositing of Asbestos-Cement materials at a number of sites throughout West Clare.
Phase one of the clean operation is underway with another two phases to occur before the works are completed.
Former Kilkee Councillor PJ Linnane lives next to one of these locations near the resovoir on the doonbeg road out of the town.
He's sought medical advice over the revelations – and has also stopped his Grandchildren from visiting him.
He outlined his fears to Clare FM's Morning Focus.
Clare County Council says is in ongoing consultation with the HSA, EPA and the HSE regarding the works.
And Senior Engineer Paul Moroney says they can't comment on Mr Linnane's claims.
Phase two is expected to examine the possibility that some asbestos material has been buried at some of these nine sites.
Mr Moroney says it could be months before the clean up is complete.
