Clare companies among hardest hit in AIB share fallout.

Several Clare Companies were among the biggest losers in the AIB share wipe out.

According to a report in today’s Irish Independent the The Clare Heritage and Genealogical Centre, The Clare Champion and a Killaloe man lost over 120 thousand euro between them.

Several high profile national politicians and clergy also suffered huge losses.

In the investigation carried out by the Irish Independent  The Church of Ireland is nursing one of the biggest losses  after its 17 million euro investment plummeted to 260 thousand Euro in the AIB shares wipe out .

Here in Clare several companies and individuals were also hit hard by the collapse.

Top of that according to the article is the The Clare Heritage and Genealogical centre ..

The centre had a total of 2,530 shares worth near 60 thousand euro at their height but after the wipe out they are now only worth  885 euro.

The Clare Champion also suffered significant losses .. Its 1,560 shares were worth almost 36 thousand euro when they were trading at their highest price four years ago.. but now are only valued at 546 euro.

Sean Donlon of Killaloe who’s shares, purchased after December 2006 were worth over 24 thousand euro- have now plummeted to just over 540 euro also.

Among others hardest hit across the country were Health Minister Mary Harney and her husband Brian Geoghegan and Dunnes Stores Director Margaret Dunne.
