Calls have been made for a joint operation between Gardaí and the local authority to deal with illegal burning of waste.
Shannon Councillor Gerry Flynn is urging Clare County Council to call to people’s homes to ensure they can vouch for their refuse disposal.
He believes the burning of plastic waste at home is having a major impact on the health and environment of communities around the county and he thinks that a joint approach will cut down on the problem.
