Clare Councillors are calling on all election candidates in the county to declare their stance on the controversial Limerick Boundary extension.
The local government review committee has called for areas of South East Clare, like Westbury and Shannon Banks, to be governed under a single Limerick authority – a proposal that’s being opposed by residents and local representatives.
A motion, for all candidates contesting the next general election in Clare to outline their position on the boundary extension was put forward at Clare County Council and received unaminous backing by local councillors.
Meelick Councillor Cathal Crowe says the issue is of utmost importance to the people of Clare and the county’s Dail representatives will need to reflect this.
