Clare County Council Opens Online Book Of Condolence For Young Clare Man Who Died In Surfing Incident

An online book of condolence has been opened for a young Clare man, who lost his life following a surfing incident in West Clare.

20-year-old Fionn O’Brien was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick after he got into difficulty while surfing at Lough Donnell in Quilty yesterday morning, and was later pronounced dead.

The students, who lived on the Tulla Road in Ennis served as a lifeguard during the summer months and is survived by his parents Michelle and Pat and brothers and sister.

Fionn was also a talented dual player for St. Joseph’s Doora Barefield GAA club and chairman Robert Hurley has been telling Clare FM’s Rebecca O’Sullivan that he will be a huge loss.
