Clare’s politicans are being urged to participate in a disability awareness forum in order to get a real understanding of the necessity of grants for the sector.
It was one of the main messages to come from a meeting in Ennis yesterday where over 60 people gathered to raise concerns over the ending of the mobility allowance and motorised transport grants.
Fears were also expressed over the recent threat to personal assistant hours for people with disabilities.
Disability campaigner and Corofin woman Anne Marie Flanagan has told Clare FM that she believes there is a distinct lack of awareness among some political figures about the necessitiy of these grants.
